The Massachusetts Work-Based Learning Plan (WBLP) is used throughout Massachusetts to structure youth employment placements, including summer jobs, internships, cooperative education placements and more. It is a two-page document (or four screens if you use the online version) that provides a job description, a list and description of key employabliltiy skills and career and workplace-specific skills, and a performance evaluation.
The Massachusetts Work-Based Learning Plan is designed to be easy-to-use and intuitive. Here are some quick tips about how to use it.
ABOUT THE WBLP:
The WBLP may be completed online, on mobile devices, or on paper. (You can download the WBLP as a paper (Microsoft Word) document from the Resources section of this website).
It was first developed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education through an interagency collaboration of employers, educators and workforce development professionals in 1998, and has been in constant use since then. Over 80,000 WBLPs have been completed on line since 2005, when that capacity was first launched, and many more have been created on paper.
